Bill (aka The Mad Botanist) is a professionally trained botanist, experienced gardener and educator. A native Illinoisan, he schooled at EIU, U of Mich and the U of Ill. He is comfortable dealing with flowering plants and cryptogams (i.e., fungi, lichens, bryophytes and ferns) as well as ornamental and food plant issues. He has an extensive ethnobotanical background and understands the peculiarities presented by the bistate climate and soil, both in natural and human influenced environs.  More

  Rosemary makes books and cartoons that connect people with the natural world.

Her Bird and Moon nature comics won the National Cartoonists Society’s award for Best Online Short Form Comic and were the subject of an award-winning museum exhibit. She makes best-selling science books for kids and adults and gives keynotes at birding festivals. She’s written and drawn for The New York Times, Audubon, PBS kids’ Elinor Wonders Why, Ranger Rick, and more. She’s represented by Seth Fishman. Her favorite glacial landform is the esker. 

The Hoosier Mushroom Society was formed in 2009. For the last several years, we have been an informal mushroom hunting organization in the state. Starting in 2013, we will be accepting dues paying members to the organization.

The mission of the Hoosier Mushroom Society is to promote the science of mycology and the study of fungi.

Our interests include:

collecting and identifying wild mushrooms and other fungi
cooking with wild mushrooms
photographing mushrooms
arts and crafts with fungi.
